Welfare and pension officers at the Queanbeyan RSL Sub-Branch are dedicated to supporting all members of the Defence Community. They also gather information on local community services, including how to access these services and how to get in touch with service providers.
The Welfare and Pension team also provides counselling for people in the defence community, including those members retired and serving. 
The Welfare and Pension team can also provide assistance in relation to:

- Advice and assistance on claims to the DVA
- Appeals process to the VRB and the ATT
- Funeral services and assistance with the funeral grant
- Hospital visiting service
- Occupational Therapy services to improve lifestyle
- Liaison with other Community services such as Open Arms - Veterans and Families Counselling (Formerly VVCS) and local VAN office
- Liaison with other community support groups
